What you'll need:
- 21 cups
- Ping pong balls
- Plenty of beer (or your drink of choice)
- A large table or surface to play on
Setup:
- Arrange the cups in a pyramid formation, with six cups on the bottom row, five on the next row up, four on the next row, and so on until you have one cup at the top.
- Fill each cup with a small amount of beer (about a quarter full).
Gameplay:
- The game starts with one player shooting a ping pong ball at one of the cups on the table.
- If the player makes the ball into a cup, they choose another player to drink from that cup and remove it from the table.
- If the player misses, they must retrieve the ball and take a drink from one of the cups on the table.
- The game continues with players taking turns shooting the ball at the cups.
- Once a player has made a ball into all of the cups on a single row, they can start shooting at the cups on the next row up.
- The game ends when a player has successfully made a ball into all 21 cups.
Rules:
- Players must shoot the ball from behind the back edge of the table.
- If a player makes a ball into a cup and the cup is not removed from the table before the next player's turn, the cup is still considered in play.
- If a player makes a ball into a cup that is touching another cup, both cups must be removed from the table.
- If a player makes a ball into the top cup, they can choose any cup on the table for another player to drink from.
- If a player makes a ball into the same cup twice, they can choose a player to drink two cups instead of just one.
- If a player makes a ball into a cup and the other player knocks the cup over before they can drink from it, the player who made the shot can choose another cup for them to drink from instead.
Strategies:
- Start with the easier cups: When you first start playing, focus on the cups that are closer to you and easier to hit. This will help you build up your confidence and accuracy before moving on to the more difficult cups.
- Aim for the edges: When you're trying to hit a cup, aim for the edges instead of the center. This will increase your chances of the ball bouncing into the cup or causing it to move and possibly knock over another cup.
- Keep your opponents guessing: Mix up your shots by using different techniques, such as bouncing the ball off the table or throwing it with a spin. This will make it harder for your opponents to predict where the ball will go and increase your chances of making a shot.
- Focus on removing cups: It's important to remove cups from the table as quickly as possible, as this will limit your opponents' opportunities to make shots. Focus on hitting cups that are touching other cups or are in the same row as cups that have already been removed.
- Use re-racks strategically: If your opponent has made several shots in a row, you can request a re-rack to make it more difficult for them to continue their streak. However, be sure to use your re-racks strategically and save them for when you really need them.
- Play defense: If you notice that your opponent is consistently aiming for a particular cup, you can try to block their shot by placing your hand in front of the cup. However, be careful not to touch the ball, as this will result in a penalty.
Additional tips:
- If you want to make the game more challenging, you can fill the cups up with more beer or use smaller cups.
- Be sure to drink responsibly and know your limits. Never drink and drive.
- Have fun and enjoy the game with your friends!
